The adventure begins!!!

Well at long last. It is finally here. Eek!!  Not sure if excited, nervous, tired or scared but here goes.

After the frantic last minute running around done yesterday in order to pack, clean the flat etc, I could do with a holiday.

It began with finishing nights and getting a quick snooze in. More practical me thinks that trying to get packed and tidy up on no sleep. I though it would be quick as I had already pretty much decided what to take. Boy, was I wrong!!!  After 4 hours of pure frustration followed swiftly by anger then tiredness I had finally packed my bag.

Why is packing so hard?  I admit I haven,t travelled for a while but I am not the sort to massively overpack. Also I spent so long researching how to pack light using various internist blogs etc. I am at a loss why I was so rubbish!! 😩

The relief afterwards was palpable to say the least. I had just spent hours of my time packing, repacking and depositions everything in my bag at least 20 times. When everything did just about fit, only Hercules himself could lift it. So after a lot of swearing and sacrifice ( Bye Bye nice shoes, running gear, hiking gear and nice beach dress’s). But hey at least I could carry the damn thing 🎒

By that point I had truly had enough but the cleaning and tidying beckoned after the efforts of shorting out my holiday wardrobe. I just had enough time to whiz round with the Hoover and the flat less resembled a post apocalypse scene and more like a home for a semi professional young adult.

A quick ready meal I had about an hour to myself to chill before getting up early so I could make my afternoon flight. I just had time to paint my nails, something I was adamant I wanted to do and I had brought a home gel kit especially. If you are a nurse ,you will understand. Due to strict rules on uniform and infection control measure to protect our patients, it a big fat NO to nail polish, jewellery, watches and hair past your collar. Basically this means anything that might make you look nice or pretty.

Not the best manicure in the world but it made me smile!!

It also meant I didn’t hear my phone go multiple times (Sorry Mama P 😔)

I managed to get a few hours kip before weakening really early as I couldn’t sleep any more. Breakfast, taxi to the underground station, underground station and Hooray!! Made it safe and sound.  Quick transfer through security, smiling nicely at the lady swabbing my toiletries for drugs and I have enough time to eat, grab a coffee and write this post.

My flight is about to get called so Bye for now.  See you in the states x x
