Miami, is…..

A very unique place. I’m not sure I can quite describe it accurately…

I am staying in Miami Beach, the hostel is privately run and located just 3 blocks from a very large and beautiful beach. I arrived 4 days ago from New York and the contrast could be more different. New York is typical big city while Miami Beach is very chilled. Everyone is pretty much half naked all the time as the culture centres around the beach and then clubbing afterwards and is filled with ‘beautiful people’.

The beach is fabulously golden and stretches for miles along south beach. The water is clear and warm with a light aquamarine colour. Small fishes swim by your feet in the shallows and people shriek and yanks ball games in the deeper parts. Paragliding and other waterspouts occur further out. People are stretched on every part of the beach in. Various shades of brown (or red depending on complexion 👙🦀)

Everyone practically has a skateboard or roller blades and can be see jogging or skating along the beach front. The male half of the population seem to have expensive sports cars, good for attracting the attention of the opposite sex and the female half walk around during the day in $200 bikinis and at night get dressed up in the shortest of short skirts or hot pants accompanied by a skimpy top and high heels with immaculate hair and make up ready to dance the night away in the most popular clubs.

Yes, Miami really is about the beautiful people. I’ve seen people approached by PR people from various clubs on the beach and invited for a night out. The catch is, the PR people will only approach those they deem ‘hot’ or ‘attractive’. Girls are offered the chance to enter a high end club for a reduced fee and free drinks but they have to remain at a table payed for by a man/group of men who essentially are paying for a table in the club where they have to pay for all the drinks. It is the girls job to entertain these men and look good while the men have to have enough money to buy all drinks and hire a table in the club in order to get admittance.

If neither fulfills their obligation, the club can ask them to leave. ???????? Oh and if you are not dressed accordingly to very strict rules, you don’t get in either ????? Oh and did I mention entry to said clubs is $60 and drinks $25??

Not sure how I feel about this. Essentially if a persons isn’t beautiful enough or has enough money, they are deemed unworthy for some reason????

Needless to say I am not tall, skinny or pretty enough to be asked to attend one of these clubs. I think I am glad of that!!!!!!

I am quickly running out of money so this week, I won’t be doing very much at all apart from laying in the beach. I have visited the Everglades which was really fun, speeding along an airboat. Oh, we found some alligators in the Everglades. Such strong, intelligent animals. Needless to say all external appenditures stayed in the boat.

and I really want to visit Key west, but I will have to see ….
